Infinite LEGO Domino Ring
Dominoes and ingenious engineering - name a more iconic combination, right? Jason and Kristal from JK Brickworks absolutely blew our minds when they revealed the Infinite LEGO Domino Ring, which continuously topples and automatically resets a ring of 64 dominoes! A motor is used to spin a ramp running along the inside of the ring, opposite the falling dominoes, to lift the dominoes back up. In theory, this contraption can perpetually topple over 2,160,000 dominoes a day! I was so deeply impressed by this whole idea that I just had to make a full reaction video on it. The genius design and seamless execution really got me! Projects like this showcase what’s possible with creative engineering, and I absolutely loved seeing this incredible machine in action. “I've had this idea kicking around in the back of my mind for a couple of years, since I designed a separate model that would set up a run of dominoes. My ultimate goal was to build a general machine that would follow behind the falling dominos and set them back up, but I quickly realized I needed to start with something a little more achievable. In this model, the dominoes are mechanically hinged to a circular track, which eliminates a lot of the complexity, and a ramp is driven opposite the falling dominos to lift them back up. The speed of the ramp is regulated using a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 so that it can theoretically run forever.”
