World Record Heck Wall!
Before we move on from Maryland Domino Day, there is one thing that just needs to be pointed out specifically: A new world record for the largest domino “heck wall” has been set, using 5,652 dominoes! The heck wall spanned 8x16 feet, representing a Utah license plate. After Stephan (stayfawntop) designed the pattern with the help of a software program he wrote specifically for this, Paul Nelson and the Koops brothers built the frame, and tested the rat trap mechanism for the release. Then, at least half a dozen volunteers placed the dominoes. I absolutely love this team effort! This is what building dominoes with others is truly about, doing what you can do to best support each other. Kudos to the whole team - they should be super proud of this achievement! Here’s an awesome slow motion video of the falldown of this amazing structure - it’s really mesmerizing to watch!
